Do you know BTS? | V

This quote from wise, caring V was made by him back in 2015 at a Fancafe and supposedly shared via his writing the message on a napkin. It was impactful and inspiring then but let’s fast forward six years. Oh goodness- does it ever have relevance now. Again, we see another BTS member and his words helping to strengthen our mindset during these unprecedented times. 💜

We’ve always been believers that messages come to us when we’re ready to receive them or just plain NEED them. Researching and planning for this campaign has blessed us with many wonderful, helpful insights from BTS. And their thoughts surely made a big difference at the time they shared them. Yet, again, right now? They’re just as important.

V has been fairly vulnerable and has shared often about difficult times in his life; growing up and being teased in school, the death of his grandmother, struggling in his trainee/debut days, bouts of loneliness or a potential lack of self-confidence. These are struggles to which we can ALL relate.

We suspect he’s worked hard to come to a place where he’s comfortable in his own skin. To really Love Himself. Other members have described him as a bit quirky at times but that’s part of his charm- his owning exactly who he is and overcoming the hard things in life to become his own beautiful (and unique) flower. We can just imagine some of the thoughtful pep talks he possibly gives himself or what encouraging journal entries he’s penned over the years.

Tae is a VERY strong person. The members have alluded to this too. He’s steadfast and encouraging; there is NO ONE you’d rather have in your corner. We’ve seen him jump to Jin’s defense (for example, during the 2020 New Year’s Eve Live meet and greet on Weverse) about how hard Jin works and how much he’s improved. This in response to Jin being rather self-deprecating about his dancing abilities. And it’s not the first time we’ve seen such an exchange. He appears to be a fierce friend, fully intent on making sure you think highly of and Love Yourself.

He, like all the members, has been very honest about how tough this last year has been with the tour cancelled and not being able to connect with ARMY live. They all seemed lost initially but found some comfort in their music and got back to creating more and expressing themselves for us. Again, we envision those pep talks, Tae rolling up his sleeves, grabbing a pen and starting to write “Blue & Grey”. His quote from the second address BTS made to the United Nations (September 2020, virtually) gives us the perfect example of his powerful mindset:

“But this time it felt different. It felt lonelier and smaller. Why? I thought for a long time. I thought, maybe because it became harder to imagine. I was frustrated and depressed, but I took notes, wrote songs, and thought about who I was. I thought, ‘If I give up here, then I’m not the star of my life. This is what an awesome person would do.’” [V from the virtual speech BTS gave to the UN in September 2020]

Well, he IS awesome, isn’t he? But we already knew that!

And he shared these words of wisdom during BTS’s virtual commencement speech to the graduating class of 2020:

“In all honesty, I wasn’t born with the talents of singing and dancing, and wasn’t much the persevering type either. I began later than my friends and was lacking in some aspects, but I soon developed a joy and passion for singing and dancing. This joy motivated my persistent efforts, and has led me to where I stand today. If there is anyone out there who cannot see where they should go from here forth, I urge you to listen to your heart. Things may feel a little difficult right now, but somewhere out there, luck and opportunity is waiting for you. I believe that.” [V, BTS Commencement Speech, Graduation Class 2020]

Wow. Coming full circle- is there really anyone else YOU would rather have in your corner, cheering you on? Whether it’s Jin, his other members, ARMY, or even himself, it seems we all have V sending love and encouraging energy- reminding us we’re the only version of ourselves out there in the world. And as beautiful flowers, we get to keep blooming.

Now you know even more about Tae and some of his iconic lines, whether via his music or his personal quotes. We’ll elaborate even more in upcoming posts. We think he’ll just continue to impress you!
