Albums | JK | Wake up

Hello Maknae- it’s 2014 and we see you growing up right in front of our eyes! 💜

These concept photos for “Wake Up” show us JK at 18 and totally in his power at Main Vocalist and Center. He’s matured quite a bit and now has had enough experience (it’s over a year later) since his Korean debut to give off all his idol vibes for this Japanese market. His hair is black and along with the other members, they all seem to be flexing a fashion upgrade. Much of the past bling is gone and we even see some Chanel accessories.

Even, right away, in these early days, JK was known to be popular with fans in Japan; he was often searched on social media as, “the one in the middle.” That popularity continues today as he regularly breaks social media records (in Japan and everywhere else) and he shows up at the top of Japanese popularity polls. Again, the world sure seems to be united in their adoration of this young man!

He’ll also evolve to be a strong ingredient in the BTS OT7 formula for continued success in Japan. He recently collaborated with Japanese rock band, Back Number, to compose and produce the song, “Film Out” which is included in the soundtrack for the Japanese film, “Signal.” BTS recorded the song and released it, just this past April, as an official Japanese single (although the whole world heard it and loved it).

It was the group’s first song to ever debut at #1 on the Japanese singles chart and it went on to top the charts worldwide too!

Here in 2020, we’re clapping for 2014 JK! Well done!
