What a fun break we had for Earth Day- now it’s back to SO MUCH MORE TO KNOW about BTS’ first studio albums! 
Next along our timeline is “Wake Up” from 2014. This is their first full-length Japanese studio album, and we have LOTS to talk about regarding this release!
During their pre-debut and debut days, BTS definitely built a strong following in Japan. Now over a decade later, their fanbase there is huge and their official Fan Club/ARMY in that country is very special, influential, and somewhat of their own entity. We’ll delve into all this and much more over the next two days; you’ll learn how we usually see that this market has its own unique promotions, album releases and schedules.
Big Hit doesn’t even directly distribute in Japan- they’ve partnered with Universal Music Group – Japan for music releases, which is often why we don’t always see these Japanese albums/videos/tracks included in some discographies and/or on all platforms.
Again, we’ll do our best to share all we’ve learned so you can get-to-know more too!
“Wake Up” was released on December 24, 2014 and included 13 tracks. These included Japanese versions of several of their already hit songs and the three lead singles were, “No More Dream” + “Boy in Luv” + “Danger” (plus two original songs, “The Stars” and “Wake Up”). The album peaked at #2 on the Oricon Charts (Japanese equivalent to our Billboard Charts).
We also see the members gaining even more exposure with this expanded audience, furthering their individual popularity and getting them even more used to their growing superstardom. They remain as gracious and endearing as ever and focus on the love they have for all ARMY, performing live and making new music.
