Do you know BTS? | Jimin

This quote from Jimin not only has a pretty profound correlation to some situations in his life, then and now; but once again we find ourselves learning a really big lesson that we can put to use in our own lives too.đź’ś

Jimin has been very open about how much he’s struggled with this global pandemic. We all know BTS had to cancel their world tour for 2020. It seems they all moved back into the dorms, together, for quarantine but each had to still, individually, find their way. And discover how they could still feed their creativity which is how the world received “Dynamite” and later, “BE”.

“I felt hopeless. Everything fell apart. I could only look outside my window. I could only go to my room. Yesterday I was singing and dancing with fans around the world and now my world had shrunk to a room. And then my friends took my hand. We comforted each other and talked about what we could do together.” [Jimin from the virtual speech BTS gave to the UN in September 2020]

Sure. He’s had struggles in life and has had to overcome challenges and has worked hard to help launch the biggest band known today out into the world. Some of these we’ve covered in our posts but we’re sure there are many no one outside of his inner circle will ever know. And has he learned to pivot his mindset to embrace these challenges and put a positive spin on them (again, we can only imagine he gives himself pep talks about the big stuff too- similar to when he’s motivating himself during a RUN BTS mission)? Find what there is to learn from certain situations and turn it into something good? Granted, that’s OUR perspective but we also feel fairly tuned into some of the members’ outlooks.

Let’s apply that to the situation with COVID19. As lockdown started and the decision was made to cancel the tour, BTS was crushed. They’ve been VERY honest about this. For those of us who tuned in, remember that first night of the “Map of the Soul ON:E” streaming show and how wrecked poor Jimin was during the encore? They were singing “We Are Bulletproof : The Eternal” As he sang, “…we were only seven but we have you all now…” he broke down and was very emotional. The other members comforted him. And it crushed our hearts although it was completely understandable.

He was obviously heartbroken. But let’s consider all the amazing achievements that have happened for BTS in this last year. Would things have turned out as they have had the pandemic not blown up and forced them into quarantine in Seoul?

They released “Dynamite”, their first single fully in English. It broke so many records and became the song we were all singing for months to come. They also released their album “BE” with the single “Life Goes On” debuting at #1 on the Billboard Singles Chart (and #1 on the Album Chart too). All those amazing TV stages we watched. The GRAMMY nomination. Time Magazine’s Entertainers of the Year. They won every major Asian music award they were nominated for. They filmed the NPR Tiny Desk Concert. And so on, and so on.

There is no way we could list everything here but trust us! There’s so much more!

As difficult as his year was, look at the beautiful, AMAZING things that happened as a result of his time with his fellow hyungs. And NONE of it would have happened without his contribution to the magic.

We’re so glad he was the final choice and completed the fateful mix we now know as BTS. He brings his beauty (both inside and out) to their overall dynamic and we’re oh-so-grateful! We know the other six are too!
